Course Description

This ½ day workshop introduces attendees to processes and tools for defining and presenting a project’s status to project stakeholders, especially project status reporting.  During the workshop, attendees will create, deliver, and receive feedback on a project status report and presentation. In doing so, attendees will use given Project Status Checklists and Presentation templates.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify common elements associated with “project status.”

  • Know best practices for project scope, schedule, cost, and risk reporting. 

  • Create a project “elevator pitch” appropriate for summarizing basic project information to stakeholders.

  • Recognize characteristics of a visual project status report.

  • Create a one-page visual project status report (quad chart format.)

  • Describe best practices associated with presentation project information, including the “10-20-30” rule.

  • Learn how to embed charts and graphics into a project presentation using Microsoft Office applications.

  • Identify effective presentation formatting techniques.

  • Create and deliver a short project presentation.
